What sets Reflections apart from other assisted living communities in the area?
What sets Reflections apart from the rest is our intimate, boutique atmosphere where residents and their families are truly treated like family. Our smaller size means that you or your loved one are never just a number. Everyone, from our dedicated care team to our friendly kitchen staff and everyone in between, will know you by name. This personalized approach ensures a warm, welcoming environment where each resident (and their family members) feel valued and cared for.
Is Reflections Senior Living Community a state licensed facility?
Yes, Reflections is currently licensed as an assisted living facility by the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) as an Adult Care Residence. This license allows us to provide assisted living services to meet the needs of persons who qualify for services in an assisted living setting.
Can we bring our own furniture?
Our suites come fully furnished with a bed, nightstand, dresser, and/or wardrobe, ensuring you have everything you need from day one. However, we also encourage you to bring your own furniture and personal items to make the space truly your own. Just bring your favorite comforter, and we'll take care of the rest! This way, you can enjoy a comfortable and personalized living environment that feels just like home.
What activities are offered?
At Reflections, we believe that staying active and engaged is key to a fulfilling life and we fully embrace our signature ‘Reflections Life’ culture by providing a life enrichment team that is dedicated to helping our residents make the most out of every day. That's why we offer a diverse range of activities designed to cater to the interests and abilities of all our residents. From fitness classes and art workshops to book clubs and gardening, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Our residents can participate in:
- Wellness Programs: Yoga, Zumba, and Meditation to keep you fit and healthy.
- Creative Arts: Painting, crafting, and music sessions to unleash your inner artist.
- Social Events: Movie nights, game tournaments, and themed parties to foster friendships and fun.
- Educational Opportunities: Trivia, history classes, and brain games to keep your mind sharp.
- Outdoor Activities: Gardening, picnics, or simply relaxing on our porch to enjoy the beauty of nature.
What is the staff to resident ratio?
We pride ourselves on maintaining a 1:5 staff to resident ratio – one of the best in the area. This exceptional ratio allows our dedicated care team to focus on what truly matters – our residents. With this level of personalized attention, you can have peace of mind knowing you or your loved one is receiving the care and support they deserve.
How can I determine if my loved one is the right fit for Reflections?
To ensure that Reflections is the right fit for potential residents, our Director of Resident Care conducts a thorough assessment. This comprehensive evaluation helps determine the suitability and specific level of care required for each individual. By taking the time to understand each future resident's unique needs, we can provide the personalized care and support they deserve.
What are your levels of care?
Our care levels range from level 1 through 4 and are based on how much assistance a resident needs with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). Examples of ADL’s are walking, bathing, dressing, eating, etc.
- Level 1 - Resident needs assistance with one or two Activities of Daily Living (ADL's).
- Level 2 - Resident needs assistance with some, but not all ADL's including physical assistance, especially with incontinence.
- Level 3 - Resident needs assistance with most ADL's including physical assistance and not just setup.
- Level 4 - Resident needs full care and feeding. All care is dependent on the staff.
Can my loved one continue to use their own doctor?
Absolutely! Residents can continue using their preferred doctor or take advantage of our team of medical professionals.
Scheduling doctor appointments and traveling to and from various medical facilities can be an inconvenience when coordinating the care of yourself or a loved one – particularly for someone that is struggling with mobility. That’s why Reflections prioritizes the health and well-being of our residents by providing high quality care at home with regularly scheduled visits from our team of medical professionals. Whether it’s assessing the health of residents, providing medical care or addressing a change in health status, our team is equipped to meet the individual health needs of our residents onsite from our senior care community. Our onsite providers include dentists, physical therapists, dermatologists, podiatrists, and mental health therapists to name a few.
What security measures are in place?
Our assisted living community prioritizes the safety and security of our residents and staff. To ensure a secure environment, we require a code to enter and exit all doors. This system helps us maintain a safe and protected space where everyone can feel at ease. All visitors can knock or ring the doorbell, and the staff will let you in.
Can I take my loved one off premises?
We encourage family members to take their loved ones on trips offsite. Our residents love these outings! We simply ask that you inform our staff so we can ensure any necessary medications are taken along for the duration of the trip. For everyone's safety, residents and guests are also required to sign in and out at the reception desk. This way, we can maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for all.
